Description: | 92 pts James Halliday Destemmed and crushed to open fermenters, spending 11-15 days on skins, matured for 12 months in new (15%) and used French oak. Bright crimson-purple; you really have to wait until the aftertaste to understand and appreciate this wine: it's in that languorous, medium-bodied Langhorne Creek style, the tannins soft, the fruit fully ripe at 14%, the aftertaste revealing some black olive nuances, a faint edge to the tannins, and a whisk of oak that all add to the package. 90 pts Vinous Saturated ruby. Aromas of fresh cherry, blueberry and cigar box are lifted by a spicy quality that gains power with aeration. Smooth, focused and appealingly sweet, offering pliant black and blue fruit and floral flavors and a hint of vanilla. Clings impressively on the finish, which features repeating blue fruit, a touch of succulent herbs and smooth, well-integrated tannins. -- Josh Raynolds |
