| Description: | Dominio de Eguren was founded by brother Marcos and Miguel Eguren, Marcos serving as the winemaker and Miguel as the general manager. While they have substantial vineyard holdings in the Castilla region, the goal for this project is to use their relationships with other growers in the area to produce wines of high quality at affordable prices. Planted on trellis, these vineyards of Tempranillo, Bobal, Viura (Macabeo), and Airén were selected by the family for their advanced age, poor soils, and unique microclimates. The Protocolo Tinto is a 100% Tempranillo that is sourced from high-altitude, dry-farmed vineyards resulting in reduced yields and concentrated fruit notes. The wine also gets 10-15% of estate Rioja and Toro blended in from younger vineyards, creating a mix of plums and red berries with a hint of chalky tannins. |
