| Description: | Bright red-ruby. Slightly porty aromas of blackberry, cassis, menthol licorice and pungent peppery herbs. Intensely flavored but distinctly herbal and a bit medicinal in the style of the year. I find this a bit pungently green and lacking in sweetness, but the mid-palate grain and harmonious tannins are very 2016. Still quite tight and savory, and a bit dry on the finish. This firmly structured wine may yet gain in sweetness and pliancy with time in bottle but it's a bit medicinal today. (These wines are made by Julia Halupczok and enologist Matias Michelini.) (13.5% alcohol; aged for 12 month in new French oak) |
