Description: | 97 Jd / 97 Vm / 95 Ws / 94 De / 94 We. The 2020 Gigondas Hominis Fides, from a vineyard just across the road from Les Claux, is another elegant, medium to full-bodied beauty. It's not massive and shows the pure, seamless style of the vintage with beautiful darker berry fruits, loamy soil, graphite, and ground pepper aromatics. This layered, multi-dimensional, flawlessly balanced Gigondas is going to evolve for at least two decades. - Jeb Dunnuck. Limpid ruby color. Spice-accented kirsch, black raspberry, incense and licorice scents show superb detail and expand steadily with air. Sweet and broad in the mouth, offering densely bitter cherry, red berry preserve, candied lavender and vanilla flavors that tighten up steadily on the back half. Finishes extremely long and spicy, with resonating florality, a hint of Chambord and youthfully gripping tannins. All whole clusters and one-third new oak. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media. A rich, velvety red, showing both power and grace, this is introduced with heady steeped cherry and incense. Reveals raspberry coulis and charred plum flavors that race alongside black licorice and iron. The supple palate is quickly hemmed in by fine-grained tannins, with singed herbs and white pepper notes dancing through the long finish. Best from 2024 through 2035. 39 cases imported. - Bs, Wine Spectator. Ripe, figgy blackberry fruit, with a touch of menthol. Full-bodied, rich and generous palate, quite potent and powerful. Dense, thick tannic base and the alcohol is high. Grenache planted sometime around 1902 on Miocene calcareous sand, in a single vineyard. No destemming, 12 months maturation in French oak barriques: 30% new, 30% one-year-old, 30% two-year-old. Unfiltered. - Matt Walls, Decanter. Graceful and refined, this wine bursts with fresh cassis, blackberries, black cherries and blood orange on the palate. Framed by fine tannins, notes of fresh wild herbs and black peppercorn linger on the long, saline-mineral finish. - Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast. |
