| Description: | Organically Farmed. Orange Wine. 100% Trebbiano Romagnolo. This delightful orange wine comes from the hills inland from Rimini (just above San Marino) in Emilia-Romagna. Tenuta Saiano began in 2003 as a 100 hectare farm (eight planted with vines), growing fruits & vegetables without synthetic chemicals, and with minimal impact on the land that supports them. Trebbiano Romagnolo is a native white variety to the region that works well as an orange wine. They've allowed to spontaneously ferment on the skins, which mingle for 6 months in a Georgian qvevri (large clay vat). Unfiltered. Only 1200 bottles produced. Golden straw-hued, with a cool, subdued savory character reminiscent of sweet spring water, chamomile, and yellow plum. The acidity and soft tannic grip of the variety gives the wine structure, which partners well with subtly-flavored dishes like fresh cheeses, white-sauced pastas, and chicken. Or just pop as an aperitif. Best served cool, not cold, at around 58f. |
