Description: | Barnard Griffin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington 2012 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 5% Petite Verdot, 3% Malbec 4% Cabernet Franc Black Cherry, Bell Pepper, Smoky Coffee, Sweet Spice Founded in 1983 by Rob Griffin and Deborah Barnard, Barnard Griffin wines have been a leader in Washington State. Against all the current advice in the 1970s, Rob went to Washington to make wine. They said, "it's too cold to grow grapes there." After stints with Preston and Hogue, Rob and Deborah went out on their own. This Cab leans French in style with pure, clean black cherry fruit and just enough French oak to think "Bordeaux-esque." Serving Suggestion: Lamb chops with black cherry savory relish; or grilled porterhouse steak with wasabi mashed potatoes and balsamic vinegar reduction. |
