Opus One Red

Opus One Red

Bordeaux Blend

Vintage: 2015
Description: A beautifully composed red with fresh blackberry, plum, spices and cocoa. The palate is generous and structured with firm, ripe tannins supporting an array of flavors. Long finish - shows the ability to age easily for a few decades. If one tastes this blind, it would be hard to place it in Napa Valley. Flavors are savory and restrained with a Bordeaux-like elegance with firm tannins and a fairly long finish. This is not one of Opus One's intense, complex vintages, but there is plenty of charm. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years. Other text Michael Silacci continues to push the envelope of quality, which is remarkable for many reasons, the most important of which is the sheer scale of Opus One, which has no equal in Napa Valley at this level. One of the more recent developments at Opus One is an increased use of co-fermentations. As good as these bottled wines are, I am often just as impressed by the lots and blends I taste at Opus One that aren't bottled, as those wines say just as much about what the ambitions are at this reference point estate. -From Brilliance in Napa Valley: The 2016 & 2015 Cabernets (Jan 2018) by Antonio Galloni.
