Wild. 80% sauvignon blanc (half Bordeaux and half Sancerre clones) and 20% semillon. - James Suckling. Compared to the 2022, the 2023 Grand Village Blanc is more fruity and dense, evoking aromas of lemon oil, verbena, kumquat and confit citrus. Broad but tensile, it's medium-bodied with a fleshy core of fruit and a delicately phenolic frame that segues into a chalky, saline and bright finish. This blend of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon is simply stunning. - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate. The Guinedeau family are killing it with the whites in their range, despite being fara better known for their reds - for me a true sign that the people behind them are wine lovers, who like drinking them, and are excited about the possibilities. This is far simpler than the Champs Libres, but that doesn't make it any less dynamic, just less structured. Expect here fresh citrus, touch of lime peel, salted cracker, and a juicy finish, once again more about texture than fruit. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux. Clean on the nose, green stone fruits and some soft herbal elements. Peach pit and some crisp green apple. Tangy and alive, but not out of balance in terms of acidity despite the low pH. Lemon, citrus with a touch of salty, iodine notes that counteract the brightness. Complex - one to sit with and think about. I like the contrast of citrus, salinity and bitterness. Energy and fun - sharp, mouthwatering and clean.-Georgina Hindle, Decanter. A blend of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Semillon, the 2023 white Grand Village springs with spritely notes of lime leaves, fresh lemons, and yuzu, plus suggestions of white pepper and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate is vibrant with great tension, finishing long and zesty. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent. The 2023 Grand Village Blanc is a powerful, deep wine endowed with quite a bit of texture. Far from an easygoing white, the 2023 has enough complexity to be extremely versatile. Hints of lemon confit, white flowers, almond and chamomile open with some coaxing, but more than anything else, the 2023 is a wine of structure. This is beautifully done. -- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon. Cask sample. Aromatically exuberant with pear and citrus notes. Lovely volume of fruit with a line of acidity that goes from start to finish. Salinity which gives extra length. Gv ?-James Lawther Mw, JancisRobinson |
