Winery: | Dom Perignon |
Description: | Dom Perignon excelled in a very good 1998 Champagne vintage. The quality of Dom Perignon is attributed to the fact that it is only made in truly exceptional vintages from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; which are picked from only the very best crus of the entire region. Dom PĂ©rignon is named after the famous 17th Century Benedictine Monk who actually did more for still wines in the region, contrary to the myth that he invented Champagne. "This is a wine that thrives on tension between its structure, opulence, elegance and poise. It is certainly ripe and opulent, but it is so well balanced and layered with acidity, and flavors of almonds, orange peel and kiwi fruits." Wine Enthusiast. "A stronger vintage than expected, the 1998 Dom Perignon exhibits aromas and flavors of lemon oil, orange rind, and brioche in a medium-bodied, zesty, rich, moderately intense style." Robert Parker.
