The distillery in the Highlands is well-known for getting its hands on some fantastic casks to mature and finish its whisky in, and that is exactly what has happened for this particular expression. It was initially aged in ex-bourbon barrels, after which it was transferred to casks tawny Port pipes from one of the top Port producers Graham's. Specifically, these Port pipes held 30 year old tawny Port, which seems appropriate for a 30 year old single malt Scotch whisky. Tasting Notes,. Aromas of candied orange peel, treacle toffee, Morello cherries and warm brioche fill the nose, complemented by notes of Black Forest gateau, Tarte Tatin, Victoria plums, Madagascan vanilla and shaved almonds throughout the palate. |
