The vines are planted on stony clay-limestone hillsides, on gentle slopes well exposed to the sun. Rhone Blend: 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre, 10% Syra h Decanter Rating : 93pts Tasted by: Natalie Earl Drinking Window: 2022 - 2028 This Cairanne cooperative winery has come up trumps here - upfront, bright, energetic fruit, it's all about wild strawberries and crushed raspberries. The flavours are delicate but also loud, screaming pure fresh strawberry tones. A drinkable, approachable smoothie of ripe red fruit, plum skin and spice backed up by fresh acidity. Founded in 1929, The Cave de Cairanne is located in the heart of the Crus of the Southern Rhône Valley, in the department of Vaucluse, on the left bank of the Rhône, near the main flagship appellations of the Côtes du Rhône including Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. The 65 Winegrowers of the Cellar pass on their passion for the land from generation to generation and work some 550 hectares of vines to produce quality wines, appellation Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Villages Plan de Dieu, Cru Cairanne, Cru Rasteau as well as organic and sulphur-free wines. A cellar on a human scale (a dozen winegrowers produce 80% of the wines) where the ambition to give birth to wines of pleasure with strong personalities prevails. With grapes picked at the end of their maturity, drastic selections and attentive, perfectly calibrated vinification, the Cellar produces a magnificent series of wines, at the peak of their appellation. |
