Francesco Rinaldi Brunate Barolo

Francesco Rinaldi Brunate Barolo

Vintage: 2019
Description: While appraochable now with a couple hours in the decanter, Brunate is famously a site for brooding wines, albeit with the elegant structure and breadth of the wines from the grand La Morra/Barolo slope. Francesco Rinaldi's piece of Brunate is a strip of south to southeast facing plots lower down the slope, and in 2019 the wine counters the site's earthier aide with a warm beam of roasted strawberry and vibrant raspberry coulis along with the balsam herbs (menthol or camphor) and dark spices; there's a lot of coiled aromatic complexity that's set to unfurl. F. Rinaldi's style is traditionally-minded, showing a touch old-school rusticity but allowing more of the raw character of Nebbiolo and its site to come through. "The 2019 Barolo Brunate is a brooding, imposing wine. This big, old-school Barolo delivers tons of impact. Readers will find a somber, stark Barolo full of sepia-toned Brunate intensity." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. Kerin O'keefe 96 Points - " Perfumed, delicious and structured, the compelling 2019 Brunate from Francesco Rinaldi & Figli opens with heady scents of fragrant blue flower, ripe berry, menthol and dark spice. Firm but elegantly structured, the focused, savory palate doles out crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, licorice and crushed mint framed in tightly woven, extremely refined tannins. Grapes hail from the Brunate cru that spans the villages of La Morra and Barolo and are cultivated 250-350m above sea level. This is the best Brunate Ive ever tried from the estate."
