Brotte "Création Grosset" Cairanne
Rhone Blends from Rhone
Vintage: | 2017 |

Description: | 91 points James Suckling. Fresh summer berries and a palate that has a red-fruit layer, ahead of deeper blue fruit through the finish. Mid-weight, but big on flavor. (10/2019) 90 points Decanter. Good concentration, and defined, fresh berry fruits. Grippy, upright textural tannins. And ending on sweet raspberry and damson. A spicy touch of star anise on the finish adds a little piquancy. (mw) (10/2020) 90 points Wine Spectator. Silky and refined in feel, with gently mulled cherry and plum notes that glide along, picking up light flashes of anise and black tea along the way. *Best Values* (jm) (2/2020) K&L Notes. Originally founded in 1931 in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Brotte family has since combined four different Rhône estates under the Maison Brotte emblem. Working sustainably and certified Terra Vitis, they express each of their terroirs beautifully. Maison Brotte is managed by Laurent Brotte, grandson of the founder, along with his wife and sons. Domaine Grosset was owned by Laurent's father-in-law, and the Grosset family was very active in establishing the Cairanne appellation. Soils are sandy clay with stones and grey marl. The "Création Grosset" is composed of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan and is a classic rendition showing generous fruit and a silky structure. A perfect introduction to the region and this producer. |
