| Description: | Distilled at Glen Scotia distillery from fully peated malt this has been matured for 10 years minimum in 1st fill ex-Bourbon casks and ~10% heavily char American oak. Nose: Sweet and peaty, coconut, tropical fruit; lychee, almost juniper-like, rosemary wood, mineralic and floral with hints of chamomile and more smoldering peat. Taste: Sweet and creamy initially on the palate, mid-light bodied, slightly oily but also fresh tropical fruit juices, pineapple, lychee, banana, heathery peat, vanilla, coconut, candyfloss, charred strawberry marshmallows. Finish: Long, foam bananas, banana smoothie with vanilla cream and more heavily barbecued marshmallows, colored pencil shavings. Overall: A delicate balance of peat and lots of sweet influences, their is a little oily wax and masses of coconut and lychee. The result is one of those surprising whiskies you expect to be harsh on the palate due to the smoke on the nose but instead its like a creamed banana and tropical fruit smoothie. Some nice herbal woody influences too make this feel a lot older than 10 years! |
