| Description: | La Chapelle du Clos is a single plot cuve from the Clos Cazals vineyard in Oger. The Chardonnay grapes for this cuve come from a site next to the family's private chapel planted by Delphine Cazals and her father, Claude, 25 years ago. By comparison, the vines for firm's top of the line Clos Cazals Vieille Vigne were planted forty years earlier. The vinification of this cuve is embellished through the use of 10% oak barrel fermentation. Aging on slats for 6 years in the firm's vaulted cellar in nearby Mesnil-sur-Oger contributes texture and a touch of doughy complexity and finesse to the ensemble. A bit fresher and lighter on its feet than its old-vine sibling, the "Chapelle" expresses itself vividly with fresh notes of white flowers, applesauce, and orange blossoms; making it vibrant and silky with a delicate and continuous effervescence and finish. A beautiful, distinctive drinker at a very fair price. |
