| Description: | Vintage – The 2006 vintage was marked by a continental, Mediterranean climate in Rioja, offering fully-developed wines with excellent structure and balance suitable for graceful long-aging. Winter saw higher than the average rainfall, which replenished the water table and favored a good vegetative development and fruit set. Spring progressed under ideal conditions, while summer saw very warm, Mediterranean conditions. The rains from the previous winter were key, as the maturation process was not compromised thanks to sufficient water reserves. September and October had alternating days of rain, with higher than average temperatures; however, the diurnal shift between day and night helped greatly in both the glucometric and phenolic maturation ripening process. Harvest began the last week of September and continued with higher-altitude vineyards until October 21. 2006 at Remelluri was an exceptional vintage with fresh, fully-developed fruit flavors, ripe tannins, excellent acidity, and expressive aromatics. As such, it has aged gracefully and offers the drinker all of the complexity and excitement that only a mature Rioja can deliver. |
