| Description: | The 2014 Blue Rock Cabernet is the result of a severe selection yielding only 443 cases. The vintage, rated 93 points by Robert Parker, will be remembered as a great vintage. Crafted from tiny Cabernet clusters that reflected the drought, the 2014 Blue Rock Estate Cabernet is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with smaller amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. It is produced primarily from our oldest vines most dating to 1987. It is aged for 22 months in 50% new French Oak and 50% once used barrels. The wine is very aromatic with notes of mint, blueberry and black fruits. Deep flavors of black cherry are balanced with well endowed, but fine grained tannins. There is excellent balance and a persistent finish. It is very approachable and ready for either early consumption or long term cellaring. The Blue Rock style is one of elegance and restraint rather than heavy and highly extracted and weighs in at only 14.1%. We strive for a wine that has a solid structure and lots of flavor, yet, without the heaviness that one associates with many modern-day California Cabernets. |
