Beer - Domestic

Description: Long Trail Ale is a full-bodied amber ale modeled after the "Alt-biers" of Düsseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor. Originally introduced in November of 1989, Long Trail Ale beer quickly became, and remains, the largest selling craft-brew in Vermont. It is a multiple medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival. Wine maker notes Long Trail Ale. Back to our roots, back to the tra il. Our journey began in 1989 when the first batch of Long Trail Ale was released under the Mountain Brewers moniker. Inspired by Vermont's 273-mile walking path, we're going back to the trail with a super limited throwback can, paying homage to our Green Mountain roots and the look that started our adventure. Grab some cans, pack a bag, hike on and celebrate the look that inspired our journey. Look for this limited edition, white can in select markets. Long Trail Ale is a full-bodied amber ale brewed with our top fermenting house yeast that yields a complex, clean flavor. Our flagship brew has weaved its way into the Vermont landscape and become as much a Green Mountain tradition as the 273 miles of the Long Trail itself. Plenty has changed since the first batch rolled off the line, but one thing remains constant, Long Trail Ale's presence at ski hills, cookouts and get-togethers all over the East Coast. Technical notes Abv: 5.0% / IBUs: 28. Food pairing Hearty foods: roast pork, smoked sausage, grilled salmon and aged gouda. Producer The Long Trail Brewing Company began its mission to brew high quality craft beer in November 1989. A humble beginning in the basement of the old Bridgewater Woolen Mill along the Ottauquechee River in the Green Mountains of Vermont was soon outgrown so the brewery packed up and "Hit the Trail" up the road to a riverside hay field where they now reside. Long Trail takes the words "Environmentally Conscious" very seriously. Appreciation for our surroundings and an understanding of the resource limitations of our local environment have inspired our company to consider ways to minimize the environmental impact our brewery has on our area. All spent grain and spent hops are fed to local dairy cattle as a valuable food supplement, steam from the brewing process is condensed into hot water and the thermal energy is used to heat water for the next brewing cycle saving up to 2,000 gallons of propane a month. By combining the very best ingredients available - like pure Vermont drinking water - and environmentally minded brewing processes with a genuine passion for brewing high quality craft beer, Long Trail proudly produces an extraordinary Family of Fine Ales.
