Le Boncie Cinque

Le Boncie Cinque

Vintage: 2021
Description: Practicing Organic. "The 2021 5 is a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Mammolo and Fogliatonda. Vibrant, aromatic and fruity, the 5 is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next few years. This unfussy, mid-weight red boasts gorgeous purity of flavor and exceptional balance, with bright acids that pull it all together on the close. I loved it." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous. Le Boncie's wines are essentially Chianti Classicos from Castelnuovo Berardenga, amid the vineyards of the well-known San Felice estate. With clayey limestone soils (Albarese), these show warm tones with a rounded base of fruit, generous, softly grainy tannins, and and inner vibrancy. Trust us, you'll love this 'everyday' artisinal red with your next ragu'!. Podere Le Boncie is located in the hamlet of San Felice in the Castelnuovo Berardenga area of Chianti Classico. The daughter of a respected enologist, proprietor Giovanna Morgante followed in his footsteps, working with the San Felice estate in the 1980s. There she planted cuttings from old vineyards of the traditional Tuscan varieties. When her father gave her a small vineyard and farm, Le Boncie was born using her top picks of cuttings from her San Felice project. "Cinque" is the 3rd wine in her lineup, an homage to the original five grape varieties she planted. Giovanna is an outspoken advocate of natural farming and minimal interventionist winemaking; part of what she does falls under biodynamic practices. Since the 2011 vintage, she has opted out of the Chianti Classico consorzio, labeling her wines instead as IGT Toscana. Spontaneous fermentations, minimal sulfites, unfiltered & unfined.
