Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru (750ML)
From Gevrey-Chambertin
Vintage: | 2011 |

Description: | 92 Vm / 89-92 Bh. The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru is already showing a little degradation on the rim. The nose is charming with pressed flower aromas filtering through the wild strawberry and raspberry fruit, becoming quite confit in style. The palate is balanced and poised with red berry fruit, tobacco and hints of undergrowth on the entry. The oak is well enmeshed with the structure of this Cherbaudes, gently fanning out in assured style towards the languorous finish. Superb. Tasted at Flint Wines Burgundy 2011 tasting. 2020-2035 -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media. Note: from.67 ha parcel planted in 1940. Tasting note: An attractively fresh and layered nose of both red and dark pinot fruit is laced with plenty of pungent Gevrey-style earth, humus and underbrush notes. There is a touch of the sauvage to the bigger and more powerful flavors that display fine complexity but not nearly the finesse. I do like the richness and this too should repay up to a decade of cellar time. Drink 2018+. -Allen Meadows, Burghound |
