| Description: | The Côte-Rôtie La Mouline is one of the most emblematic of the Guigal domain's wines. Small quantities are produced each year from a vineyard in the heart of the ‘côte blonde'. This is a voluptuous, silky and intensely aromatic wine. Made of 89 % Syrah, 11 % Viognier from vines averaging about 75 years. Aged for 42 months in new oak. Ruby red with red vermillion tints. Small red fruits, blackberry and floral violet aromas. Intensely aromatic, powerful but full of finesse. Supple palate with balance between the finesse of the aromas and an explosive richness due to the concentration of the wine. Greatly expressive of the terroir. A feminine wine with voluptuous silky texture and intense aromas. The prestigious Guigal domain was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, home of the wines of the Côte-Rôtie. In these vineyards of over 2400 years old you can still see the small terraced walls characteristic of the Roman period. Etienne Guigal arrived in this region in 1923 at the age of 14. He made wine for over 67 vintages and, today, winemaker Philippe Guigal is the third generation to continue the family tradition of producing the greatest wines of the Rhône Valley. |
