| Description: | Clear pale yellow with green reflections that liven up the color. Brilliant. Bouquet:It smells fresh and lively; its bouquet is elegant, with bread crust fragrances, apple and pear fruity note with a floral and mineral back-taste. Flavour: It tastes extremely fresh and has typicality exalted by a perfect balance of acidity and minerality. The aftertaste is consistent, fresh and savoury. Well balanced and goes down well. Review Ronchi di Cialla, one of Italy's best wine estates, has long been under the radar, but also a fantastic source of exceptional wines made from the region's native grapes. The Rapuzzi family deserves the historical credit of having saved (thanks also to the help of the Nonino distilling family), the Schioppettino grape variety from oblivion. The Verduzzo and the Picolit are also exceptional wines, and like all of this estate's output very typical of the cool mesoclimate of the Cialla area, not far from Prepotto. The fresh Ribolla Gialla brims with early appeal and the Refosco del Peduncolo Rosso is also refined and ageworthy, and not to be missed. -From Friuli Venezia Giulia: A Wine Smorgasbord (May 2018) by Ian D'Agata. Food pairing fish, crustacean and mollusc based dishes, first course dishes with vegetables, delicate cold cut meats. Excellent on its own as an aperitif. Producer The Ronchi di Cialla estate is strictly a family business. While Dina and Paolo Rapuzzi, who founded it in 1970, were attracted by wine growing as a way of living, their children Pierpaolo and Ivan belong to a generation that "grew up with vines". Both of them have, in fact, a degree in Food Sciences and are agrarian experts; they firmly support the Ronchi di Cialla policy and immemorial wine making tradition in Friuli. This family has thus become an uncommon heir of ancient traditions on one hand and modern scientific knowledge on the other making this small family business out of the ordinary. |
