Mouton Rothschild [top shoulder/imperfect label]
Vintage: | 1937 |

Description: | "The 1937 Mouton-Rothschild has a beguiling bouquet that might lead you down to the Graves rather than up to the Pauillac. It feels mellow but refined, offering scents of red fruit and old leather armchair and even a slight malt-like aroma. The palate is well balanced with grainy tannin, and a fine bead of acidity lends tension to this Mouton-Rothschild. It is surprisingly tart on the finish, displaying a faint touch of menthol and, in common with some bottles of '37 Latour, a touch of curry leaf. Bottles should be consumed in the near future. This certainly represents one of the best Moutons from the 1930s. Served blind at Domaine de Chevalier." - Neal Martin, Vinous (Dec 2019) |
