Nearly 5,500 acres of prime vineyard land at elevations averaging more than 2,500 feet above sea level! This includes a wealth (nearly 190 acres) of old, 50+ year-old Garnacha, Tempranillo and Macabeo vines, as well as newer plantings of international varietals. Appellation. Cariñena. Composition. 40% Tempranillo, 40% Garnacha, 20% Syrah. Viticulture. Produced from old vines grown at more than 2,300 ft above sea level. Vinification. Fermentation (at about 80ÂşF) in stainless steel tanks. Unoaked. Alcohol. 13% Region Description. This Spanish grape gives wines deep color, low acidity and only moderate alcohol content. In recent years the Ribera del Duero region has been producing wonderful wines featuring this grape; in older, more traditional regions such as Rioja, the grape is blended with others. |
