Another wine that showed just a nudge better at the Decanter Premium tasting in New York - I'm thinking the double-decanting made the difference; a useful tip if you're looking to drink these wines soon. What I love about Gpl is that you get so much Pauillac power, pulse and finesse, but with an approachability that makes it enjoyable even at 10 years old. This is still young, unquestionably, but the tannins are full of life and providing a launch pad for the ripe black fruits, while pencil lead and smoked oak round things out.
