Description: | Red Schooner is the latest project of the Wagner family of Caymus Vineyards fame. It all started with appreciating good Malbec. Red Schooner is a "Red Wine of the World", an experiment of more than five years in the making and started in the Winter of 2009/2010. You won't find a vintage date – each vintage will be known by the voyage from which it was produced. This third bottling is made from Mendoza Malbec grapes shipped chilled to Napa Valley and produced in the "Caymus" style. A dense, dark red, this wine opens up with the scent of ripe plums and cherries, layered with hints of baking chocolate. On the palate, it is powerful, concentrated, supple and persistent. This wine is unfined and may throw a bit of sediment, representing the rich and natural concentration of abundant quality. Serve with all types of grilled meats and chicken, Spanish or Latin fare, especially beef empanadas, chorizo, little beef or lamb meatballs, Serrano ham and cheeses. |
