I do feel that the most successful Rose are made with intent. This means, it is not a saignee of a red grape that is harvested at a red wine maturity. It is a Rose harvest early to retain the fresh fruit characters and vibrant acidity. Pinot noir as a Rose has the added benefit of having a better mid-palate extraction that fills in the palate to carry the acid. The finished wine will also be lower in alcohol content as it is harvested at a lower sugar content. The finished wine will also be lower in alcohol content as it is harvested at a lower sugar content.
