| Description: | 4 ½ Stars 2016 Platter's South African Wine Guide This Swartland vineyard is primarily about spice. 13 redolent of mixed spice as well as savoury coriander & black pepper, not to mention hints of leather, smoke, tobacco, all seasoning ripe black plum fruit. 90 pts Wine Spectator 11/30/15 A solid, fleshy version, with dark plum, blackberry and black cherry confiture notes pumping along, carried by brambly grip and backed by a licorice snap accent on the finish. 91+ pts Vinous May 2017 Bright ruby-red. Lovely perfume of dark cherry, spices and pepper. Concentrated, savory wine with a lot of personality and spicy depth, not to mention sophistication. Lovely saline minerality carries through the long, ripely tannic finish. A very classy, spicy, meaty wine with lovely Swartland perfume and energy. Great texture too. |
