| Description: | 93 pts Wine Advocate Dec 2023 Composed of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cinsault, 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Richesse is pure and precise with a focused core of ripe red-berried aromas that displays freshness and finesse. Medium-bodied, the palate displays more of the vintage, with succulent, healthy ripe fruit essences before ending with a pure, lingering, lively finish. As I sit here tasting this wine, the more it grows on me, and I notice the red fruit expressions from the Cinsault brightening the Cabernet with a delightful floral essence and hints of orange rind and potpourri. It's a delightfully lingering red blend unique to South Africa. 2023-2036 92 pts Tim Atkin Mw 2023 Christo Le Riche added 13% Cinsault to his 2021 Richesse to bring what he calls "grace" to this dense, focused blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 13% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. Savoury, juicy and perfumed, it's a refined, lightly wooded assemblage with bramble, plum and red berry fruit and underlying grip and backbone. 2024-29 4 ½ Stars 2024 Platter's South African Wine Guide Cabernet with 13% each cinsault & cab franc, + 9% petit verdot & merlot in vibrant 21 (90 pts), fermented & aged separately in older oak 20 months, further 8 as a blend. Bone-dry, as all reds, but more approachable tannins for a plusher feel. |
