The DonQ brand, launched in 1932, is the most popular within Puerto Rico where the local population takes great pride in the heritage of this legacy family of fine spirits.The Serralls family has been creating rums in Puerto Rico since 1865 when they erected a French still at their Hacienda Merceditas. The distillery is located near the south shore of Puerto Rico in the municipality of Ponce, known as the Pearl of the South.Created to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the discovery of Puerto Rico by Columbus in 1493, Don Q Grand Anejo is produced by the Serralles family from the stock of their best aged rum. It was released in 1993. Grand Anejo blends older and younger rums to harness a balance between the sweet and the dry that is harmonious. The nose reveals under-ripe tropical fruit (green banana skin) with tight baking spices backing up damp dark wood and leather. The tastes follow that direction and include provocative sour notes that linger and are carried along with flavors of smoky custard or burnt sugar in a medium bodied mouth feel. Drink this on the rocks, with a splash of water or in a tasty cocktail.Aging mellows a spirit. It also brings out new flavors and aromas. Our Gran Anejo contains rums aged between 6 and 12 years, creating a balance between sweet and dry that you wont get in other spirits. Drink it on the rocks, drink it neat.
