Description: | Enjoy this deeply-colored, aromatically complex, richly-flavored Châteauneuf-du-Pape alongside pheasant terrine, wild mushroom risotto, chicken ragout with green olives, or a selection of cheeses – particularly blue. The Brotte family's Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroirs are diverse, very warm, and enjoy ideal exposure to the Mistral wind. This bottling shows remarkable aromatic variety and silky texture from fine tannins. The Brotte's sustainable viticulture, de-budding, de-leafing, and green harvest limit yields and maximize character and quality. Grapes are hand-picked into small cases and immediately transported to the winery for de-stemming and gentle crushing to avoid oxidation. The must is fermented at 28°C, followed by a 3-week maceration. More tannic Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre are aged in French oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 one-year-old, 1/3 two-year-old), while softer Grenache is matured in concrete tanks and 100-year-old oak vats to preserve fruit character. Bottling takes place in March, after more than a year of aging and a light filtering. Nose : Typical of its terroir with a nose of spices, black pepper, lavender, black cherries and blackberries. Palate : Elegant and powerful, with a distinctive velvety palate showing red fruits and spellbinding notes of garrigue. This cuvée is a pleasure to drink and will reward the most patient wine lover. |
