It's focused on varietal Rhne and Bordeaux wines rather than the Spanish-inspired blends produced under the Bodega de Edgar label. Philip LaMontagne, formerly the winemaker at Terry Hoage Estate in Paso Robles, is now leading the small winemaking team for both brands.". "The 2021 El Hijo Del Pueblo Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Paper Street Vineyard in Paso Robles's Willow Creek District and was matured for 21 months in 75% new French oak. It has alluring aromas of Maraschino cherries, blueberries, peppermint patty, bouquet garni and tobacco, shifting continually as it spends time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate has a sense of weightlessness despite its concentrated, nuanced fruit, with its frame of grainy tannins and seamless acidity. It has a very long, layered finish. It feels more European than Californian, and although it's drinkable now, it will mature gracefully in bottle over the next 10-15 years." |
