| Description: | Producer Notes: Steinhger is the most well-known German gin, a spirit flavored with juniper berries. The name derives from the village of Steinhger in North Rhine-Westphalia, where during the 19th century about 20 distilleries were founded to produce the juniper oil required for the gin. Today however, Schwarze & Schlichte is one of the few remaining Steinheger gin producers left. Produced in a triple distillation from grain, juniper berries, and some neutral alcohol. By law, no other ingredients are admitted for the production of the Steinhaeger Gin. As in ancient times, Schlichte is bottled in stone crocks to preserve its fine aroma and flavor. |
