We just made a special purchase of the fantastic red Rhone wine from Chateau Maris. We have sold quite a bit of this delicious Syrah/Grenache blend over the years and the 2020 vintage appears to be their best yet ! This wine was a tremendous value at $19.99, but we are now able to offer this at $14.99 per bottle. Aromas of red and black fruits, blackcurrant and garrigue beckon. On the palate, La Touge has a full-bodied richness, beautifully integrated acidity, ripe tannins and no hard edges. The critics love La Touge as well. Wine & Spirits gave this wine 95 Points, naming it a "Best Buy" and calling its balance "addictive.". Natalie Earl of Decanter gave Maris a score of 94 Points, calling it, "Gorgeously fragrant," "incredibly pure" and "a real success.". Chateau Maris is located in the heart of the Minervois in the Languedoc-Roussillon between Toulouse and Montpellier. The vineyards cover 45 hectares of land, divided into a multitude of plots on the hillside above La Livinire. Chteau Maris was the first vineyard in the AOC Minervois to be fully certified biodynamically by Demeter. This philosophy follows a natural process with minimal intervention and no herbicides or pesticides. Extraction comes from light pumping over during a 4 week maceration as it is vinified in concrete fermenter. This results in purer, finer and more elegant wines. The soil is composed of sand, clay and pebbles which forms terraces at altitude and are ideal for wine growing. Nourished by the Mediterranean sun and with the cool wind from the Pyrenees sweeping across it, the vines enjoy a very special climate. The fig trees, thyme, olive trees, oaks and pines on the land give the wines of Chteau Maris a unique character. Chateau Maris represents a tremendous value with a quality to price ratio that's off the charts. The quantity is quite limited so grab it while you can. When it's gone, it's gone.
