| Description: | Initially spending 18 years in a combination of refill casks, this unique whisky has undergone a finishing period of around 4-5 months in First fill Pauillac wine casks, a rich and complex red wine from Bordeaux. This is an instantly different dram than a lot of Aberfeldy's other releases. Malt Master, Stephanie MacLeod, carefully monitored maturation and flavor development in the casks until the desired flavor profile had been achieved. Pauillac is a robust wine, so the goal was to use this cask type to complement and elevate the signature character of Aberfeldy, not mask it. To begin with the 18 has the lovely warmth and smoothness you would associate with an Aberfeldy whisky, but this continues with more soaked dark fruit flavors, like dates, redcurrants, and apricots. A dram to share and celebrate good times with, especially in front of a cozy open fire.
