| Description: | 95 pts Decanter Yellow plums and sweet spice dominate the enticing nose, the palate has layers of complex peach, grape, mango and chamomile flavours, great structure and intriguing spice to the long zesty mineral finish. 90 pts Vinous Aug 2018 The 2016 Estate Reserve Chardonnay was matured in 19% new oak and displays much better edginess and mineralité on the nose, coming across as quite Puligny-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a slightly nutty entry, displaying more energy and tension than the 2015 and a touch of lemongrass on the finish. Enjoy this over the next six to eight years. 90 pts Wine Spectator Web Only - 2019 A ripe, languid style, with a buttery frame around creamed pear and melon flavors. Light brioche and ginger accents show through the creamy finish. 4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter's South African Wine Guide Rich, full-flavoured but unshowy as usual, 16 adds breadth, complexity & length to intensity. More savoury than fruity in effect, with elegant, vital presence thanks to restraint in oaking & good acid cut. Very long citric finish. |
