Cvne/Cune Rioja Crianza

Cvne/Cune Rioja Crianza

Grenache,Mazuelo,Tempranillo

Vintage: 2017
Description: Tasting notes Bright cherry color with some violet nuances. In the nose, red berries aromas remain over the oaky and balsamic notes from its ageing in wood. It shows an elegance in the mouth, yet very lively, with some spice back notes and a very balanced acidity. Rating The red 2017 Cune Crianza is a wine they have always produced (though it used to be sold as Tercer Año [third year], as it was sold the third year after the harvest). It has the classical blend of Tempranillo with around 15% Garnacha and Mazuelo from the Rioja Alta zone and was fermented in 20,000-liter stainless steel tanks at 25-27 degrees Celsius to keep the fruit character in the wine. It matured in used American oak barrels for one year. They produce three million bottles of this throughout the year. It's classical but has some juicy sapidity, clean with very fine tannins and defined flavors. A triumph over the conditions of the vintage. Production was lower than the previous vintage because of the frost, but that also meant all grapes for this wine were handpicked, as nobody harvested with machines. Drink through 2023. (Wine Advocate Review). This lively red combines depth with energy. Bright berry and cherry flavors mingle with notes of fresh herb, cocoa and toast, supported by light tannins and crisp acidity. Focused and harmonious. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo. Drink now through 2025. 375,000 cases made, 15,000 cases imported. 91 Points (Wine Spectator Review). Producer notes The 2014 harvest amount exceeds the previous two vintages. During the year, the climatology was favourable resulting in a vegetative cycle that allows to expect a good vintage Both the summer months and the harvest time have been marked by more rain than expected. Again preventive treatments performed in our vineyards, such as thinning clusters and leafless have allowed us to obtain a high quality grapes. The optimum time to harvest began the 23rd September, when we started harvesting white grapes and continued with red grapes, until it was finished on 22nd October with good perspectives. Technical notes Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of grapes from our vineyards in La Rioja Alta. The malolactic fermentation takes place in vats and then the wine is aged in American oak barrels for a year, during which it acquires aromatic balance that characterizes him, as his finesse and overall expression.
