Monocle Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Monocle Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Vintage: 2021
Description: As the now-famous story goes, a local winemaker was inspired to start a small side project after being offered some notable fruit through deep-seated connections. The project was required to remain 100% anonymous. Why? This talented individual had a day job making another well-known wine. When they were offered access to a few tons of Cabernet from a sought-after vineyard that would not work into that day job's portfolio, but could not go without being shared, so our winemaker friend got creative. Fast forward to today, and Monocle Cabernet Sauvignon has become the most beloved Cab ever sold at Acme Fine Wines. It has been so rewarding to introduce people to a wine that consistently over-delivers vintage after vintage and one that is truly as delicious as it is rare. Without rival, there is not a more passionate group of followers for any other Cabernet Sauvignon highlighted at ACME. Is it the scarcity, the surreptitious nature behind the brand, the palate-pleasing characteristics of every single vintage, or a balanced blend of them all? Whichever may be, Monocle remains The top requested wine since its debut 2008 vintage, available exclusively through Acme. The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley was a welcome shift in fortune from 2020. Temperate and even-keeled, this vintage ripened beautifully and even. The owners found a historic, strapping vineyard in Coombsville to work with in this newest incarnation. With their highly decorated winemaker friend, they again called on Acme to keep the elements of their project completely covert. We wish we could fill you in on all the great details, but we do know that you've likely enjoyed the winemaker's handiwork before.as has Mr. Parker & Mr. Galloni and others whose job it is to hand out 100-point scores. Few, if any, Napa Cabs boast this quality pedigree in the under $100 category. Expressive and powerful, we are enamored once again with this wine's alluring character that can draw its tasters in for another sip, repeatedly, until the bottle is gone. Just 4 barrels were crafted of this imperial, impressive, 100% Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose opens with rustic, penetrating aromas of cassis and plum; a powerful and voluminous Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from the glass and drapes its beauty across your palate. With maturation lasting 20 months in 80% new French oak barrels, this wine has layered texture and plush, dense, and beautifully polished tannins. Its mid-palate is concentrated, leaving its captive and charmed audience with a long, lingering finish. Drink now or hold in your cellar for 10+ years. Delayed gratification is a real thing - rewarding those who have patience. - Acme Fine Wines
