Institut Agricole Regional Fumin Valle D'AOSTA
Vintage: | 2017 |
---|---|
Description: | The Institut Agricole Regional (iar) in the Valle d'Aosta educates, promotes, and makes their own wines. With this pedigree, their wines are bound to be well-made and true to their territory. The vineyards are in the foothills of the Alps at relatively high altitudes, which make for freshly-styled "mountain wines." Harvest typically takes place in the beginning of October just before the weather starts to turn. The wine has a medium intensity ruby red hue and aromas & flavors of small red & black forest berries accompanied by balsam notes that give a woodsy/herbal background, and characteristic nuances of pepper and sweet spices. Fumin has a firm structure, with a moderate amount of tannin and bright acidity, which makes for a lively midweight feel. Aged for a year in French oak. Best paired with grilled meats and semi-aged cow and sheep cheeses (especially from the Alpine regions). |
