Description: | Bodegas Carchelo,"C" Red Blend, Jumilla, Spain, 2012 40% Monastrell, 40% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon Big, Bad, Bold Spicy Red With Juicy Berry Carchelo has been a favorite of ours for years. The southeast of Spain is home to Monastrell grapes, possibly the same as France's Mourvedre. These vines are on ungrafted rootstock. Jumilla is Spain's most arid wine district, located inland from the Mediterranean at extreme elevation with rocky soils. With just a bit of French oak barrel aging, the blend is a seductive, powerful, mouth-filling red that shows black fruit to the core. Serving Suggestion: Monastrell is big and loves to run against grilled meats, smoky Spanish Paprika spice and barbecued pork. |
