Fevre Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre (Domaine)

Vintage: 2017
Description: Burghound (Allen Meadows) 90-93 "Sweet Spot". "An elegant, pure and airy nose combines notes of white flowers, citrus, lemon-lime and plenty of classic Chablis character. There is also excellent volume, density and power to the refined medium-bodied flavors that presently are not quite as complex as they usually are on the lingering finish. The underlying material however appears to be first-rate and as such my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that more depth will develop with time.". View from the Cellar (John Gillman) 93+. "As the vineyard of Montée de Tonnerre was one of the most-affected premier crus by the April frosts, I was worried this wine might show as a bit of an outlier stylistically in the lineup, but the wine was racy and absolutely classical in profile. The bouquet is very precise and complex, soaring from the glass in a fine blaze of pear, lime, kaleidoscopic limestone minerality, white flowers, citrus zest and a nice topnote of beeswax. On the palate the wine is pure, full- bodied and properly reserved structurally, with a rock solid core, great mineral drive, bright, snappy acids and laser-like focus on the very long and very electric finish. This is an outstanding bottle of Montée de Tonnerre in the making. 2022-2050.". Vinous Media (Neal Martin) 91-93. "The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru comes from 2.2-ha of vine, harvested around 22hl/ha. It has a crisp, slightly floral bouquet with oyster leaf, dill, fresh citrus fruit and a touch of wet limestone. The palate is lively and fresh in the mouth and shows a little more depth and concentration than the Mont de Milieu. It flows and fans out nicely towards the finish and should offer several years of drinking pleasure.". Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 89-91. "The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre wafts from the glass with aromas of Meyer lemon, beeswax, pastry cream and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and generous, with a fleshier, more sun-kissed profile than the other premiers crus in the cellar."
