Colene Clemens Pinot Noir "DOPP CREEK" Willamette Valley 750mL

Colene Clemens Pinot Noir "DOPP CREEK" Willamette Valley 750mL

Vintage: 2021
Description: It was a mutual love of Pinot Noir that led Joe and Vicki Stark to establish Colene Clemens Vineyard and Winery back in 2005. Operating a successful business, Joe and Vicki developed a taste for fine wine through the '80's. At that point in time, they had no clue just what the Willamette Valley would become in the wine making world. Fast forward to today, and Colene Clemens is consistently receiving high scores, and their Dopp Creek bottling just received 94 points from Wine Spectator !. When the Starks set their sights on purchasing property to plant their vineyard, they found an old abandoned farmstead and orchard that had lain fallow for many years, possessing both an ideal south-facing aspect and elevations from 350ft to 650ft. Spanning 122 acres where the Chehalem Mountains converge with Ribbon Ridge, the estate contains both sedimentary and volcanic soils; proven Pinot Noir soils which help to bring complexity to the finished wine. The vineyard is completely dry farmed, and they take a pragmatic approach to viticulture; they use sustainable and organic processes whenever possible. Winemaker Steve Goff doubles as the vineyard manager, and he makes no compromises in farming practices and winemaking. He utilizes the most diligent, time-tested and non-invasive protocols in both the vineyard and winery. The 2015 vintage of Dopp Creek ended up earning 95 points from Wine Spectator and was #7 on their "Top 100" list of 2018. Now, the highly acclaimed 2021 Oregon Pinot Noirs are being released, and this vintage of Dopp Creek just earned a fantastic 94 points! This is a wine that has sold out every year here at Hi-Time, and with this score, and a very reasonable price of $26.99, this will undoubtedly sell out yet again!. Wine Spectator 94 Points - "This expressive red is dynamic, yet retains a sense of elegance and refinement, showing pomegranate and blueberry flavors underscored by river stone and dusky spice accents. Builds tension toward lively tannins. Drink now through 2032.". Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points - "The 2021 Pinot Noir Dopp Creek takes on a deep transparent ruby color and offers aromas of toasted baking spices, ripe red and black raspberry, cardamom, and fresh pine. Medium-bodied, with juicy fruit up front, it fills the palate with fine tannins, and its more serious structure shows itself after the more primary fruit subsides on the palate. It will do well with another 6-12 months in bottle. Drink it over the coming 6-8 years."
