Description: | 95 JS / 92+ Fs / 92 Wa / 17.5 Jr. Enormous concentration and power for just 12.5% alcohol, the ripe peach, apricot and mirabelle aromas still restrained. Then comes the full-bodied, densely packed palate that is still so clean. So much depth at the spectacular, wide-screen finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap. - James Suckling. Yeast, lime zest, some chalky-balsamic undertones. Supple on the palate, soft and generous, mildly integrated acidity, dominated by texture and juice with strong alcohol, still rather closed in the aromatic component. - Us, Falstaff. The Riesling trocken 2020 Hochheimer Hölle Im Neuenberg Vdp. Erste Lage opens with a deep, rich, intense, elegant and yeasty scented bouquet of ripe and dense but coolish Riesling fruits intertwined with earthy notes. Remarkably fine, fresh and elegant on the palate for a Hölle Riesling, this is a medium rather than full-bodied wine with refreshing, vivacious and finely racy acidity. Good grip on the mouthwatering finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in June 2022. - Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate. A little perfumed on the nose with aromas of stone fruit and the merest hint of fresh herbs. Despite promising hell (Hölle), the pleasant expression of stone fruit on the palate is actually embedded in quite a soft texture. Quite full bodied too.-Michael Schmidt, JancisRobinson |
