| Description: | The 2012 Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru has a very fragrant, perfumed bouquet with brambly black fruit, cold stone and perhaps a tincture of black olive. The definition is fine – worthy of a grand cru like this. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, surprisingly sharp opening, the acidity higher than I was expecting, although that lends it fine tension and focus. It is just missing a little complexity and nuance toward the chalky, saline finish, although that might develop in bottle. |
