Description: | DeLille Cellars is regarded as a top American producer of Bordeaux-style blends, and one of the shining stars in the Washington wine world. Showcasing a tradition of quality and excellence over its 30-year history, DeLille remains a principal influence in establishing Washington State as a premier viticultural region. It is more often than not that DeLille receives 96-97 points, or an extraordinary score, from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. This time around, it is their "d2" blend that has garnered the limelight!. D2 is the road popularly known as the "chateau route" in Bordeaux, so this is appropriately applied to DeLille's Bordeaux-inspired blend. The fruit for D2 comes from several prized vineyards in the Columbia Valley, including Harrison Hill, Ciel du Cheval, Klipson, DuBrul, and Upchurch. The 2021 D2 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc that has been aged for 18 months in 100% French oak (55% new), something typically reserved for wines that sell for twice this price. With a great history of being a staple of Hi-Time and the 2019 vintage being Wine Spectator's #30 wine of the year, it has now received two enviable scores from highly-revered wine critics. Wine Spectator gave it 93-points and calls it "a dynamic red" ! Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media gave it 93-points and says "This is bursting at the seams with ripe blackberry.". With everything being said, this bottling does sell out fast so grab it while it's here!!. Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media 93 Points - "The 2021 D2, now in its 30th vintage, wafts up with dusty dried violets, lavender, black currant and hints of chalk dust. This is bursting at the seams with ripe blackberry and tart cherry fruits, framed by tactile minerals and brisk acidity that pinches at the cheeks. Tannic and potent yet lively, it finishes with a flourish of sweet inner florals and a minty herbal freshness that keeps the taster looking back to the glass for more.". Wine Spectator 93 Points - " A dynamic red, showing a keen structure, with expressive flavors of red currant and blackberry highlighted by clove and cigar box notes as this gathers tension toward refined tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032.". Jeb Dunnuck 92-94 Points - "The 2021 D2 is mostly Merlot but includes 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and splash of Cabernet Franc. Named after the well-known route in the Mdoc, it has a terrific bouquet of currants, lead pencil shavings, spice, and a touch of flowers. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, round, supple, beautifully balanced red with integrated tannins and a great finish. Its purity and balance are spot on." |
