| Description: | As the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours"; and the good scores keep pouring in for our long-time friend McPrice Myers. He's received rave reviews in the past for his Syrahs and Zinfandels, and his "Beautiful Earth" red blend even made Wine Spectator's Top 100 wine list for 2022. However, this time around it's his newly-released daily-driver Cabernet Sauvignon that is creating all the buzz!. We have written numerous e-mails about our buddy Mac and his "blue collar series" of wines, so it should come as no surprise that he has delivered another delicious bottling with a great rating. Why does he call it Bull by the Horns? His father always told Mac to "grab the bull by the horns" when you smell a challenge. The big challenge (or "bull") today is making a great Cabernet for an affordable price. Mac doesn't work with as many vineyards as other producers; he only works with the best vineyards. By placing long term agreements with the vineyard owners, he's able to get the price down for some seriously good fruit, and that (along with his skills and phenomenal blending palate) is how he's able to produce fantastic wines for such reasonable prices!. 2021 is a wonderful vintage in Paso Robles, and the quality of the year pushes these wines to the next level. Just how good are Mac's wines in 2021? Well, here are some recent scores:. The 2021 Pound for Pound Zinfandel, 94 Points from Wine Advocate ! The 2021 Right Hand Man Syrah, 94 Points from Wine Advocate ! And now, the 2021 Bull by the Horns Cabernet Sauvignon?. another whopping 94 points from Wine Advocate !. Esteemed wine critic Erin Brooks reviewed Mac's wines for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and writes that wine "overdelivers for the price"! Considering these wines all sell for roughly $20, we couldn't agree more. When we e-mailed out the last 2 Blue Collar wines, the distributor sold out within a week. Now that the Cabernet has been released (typically his most popular wine in this lineup), we've got to believe this will do the same.so don't hesitate to get this while it's still around !. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points - "Deep ruby, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Bull By The Horns has pleasingly herbal touches of bay leaves and dried herbs over a core of blackcurrant, game meat, tar and pencil shavings. The full-bodied palate has abundant, grainy tannins, uplifting, juicy acidity and a long finish with iron and herbal tones. This overdelivers for the price! " |
