Description: | Colares is a tiny appellation near Lisbon that is home to some of the only own-rooted, pre-phylloxera vines in Europe. The vineyards are planted very close to the oceans in sandy soils that are inhospitable to phylloxera. 100% Ramisco, an indigenous varietal, the wine is deeply colored, with a stunning nose of berries and violets. The fruit on the palate is edged with notes of dried herbs and spice and hints of leather and earth. Graceful and balanced, with bright acidity and a long, lingering finish. |
