Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 750mL

Vintage: 2019
Description: Perhaps more than any other article from any other wine publication, Wine Spectator's Top Wine list always has both retailer and consumer waiting on bated breath to see which wines will make a showing towards the top. Well as they say, better late than never, and Robert Mondavi's 94-point Oakville Cabernet, which was Spectator's #6 wine of the year, is now in stock !. The fruit for this wine came predominantly from their To Kalon Vineyard, which is located on prime benchland in the Oakville District of Napa Valley. Located near other notable vineyards and wineries, such as Beckstoffer, Opus One, Turnbull, and Far Niente, To Kalon combines well-drained and low-vigor soils with optimal sun exposure to enable the development of rich, complex flavors, impeccable phenolic maturity, and varietal character. Couple that with an uncompromising work ethic and talented winemakers, and you have the reason why Robert Mondavi Winery is always regarded as one of the best each and every year. Earlier this year, the To Kalon vineyard received organic certification. In the past, their winemaking team included Warren Winiarski (who founded Stag's Leap), then Mike Grgich and Zelma Long; all who are in the Vintners Hall of Fame. Today, the team has several future hall of famers, including Genevive Janssens (who also made the wines at Opus One), Thomas Rivers Brown (who also makes Schrader) and Andy Erickson (who made Screaming Eagle). These artisans spare no expense, and cut no corners when it comes to this Oakville Cabernet, and the proof is in the bottle !. Not only did Wine Spectator give this a fantastic rating, but esteemed critic Jeb Dunnick also rated this at 94 points, and said the wine is "full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully textured on the palate". Due to the demand of the Mondavi Oakville Cabernets year after year, we often only have this in stock for a short amount of time before it's sold out. So, we wanted to let our loyal customers (you!) know that it's here so you can snag a few bottles (or even a six-pack) before this high-scoring Spectator "Top Wine" vanishes from our shelves for the year!. Wine Spectator #6 Wine Of 2022!. Wine Spectator 94 Points - "Throws off some pretty gorgeous aromas of violet, anise and sweet bay leaf, with a core of ripe, streamlined boysenberry and blackberry pate de fruit flavors following closely. The finish has a racy graphite edge, while the fruit and aromas just spill through. Approachable now, too. Drink now through 2034.". Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points - "What was previously released as the Oakville Cabernet, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estates Tier comes all from To Kalon and was fermented in oak tanks and aged in 96% new French oak. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the rest Malbec. Ripe black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and even a touch of minerality define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully textured on the palate. Drink it over the coming two decades."
