2022 Domaine Jerome Fornerot Santenay Blanc "Les Charrons"

Description: For over 500 years the Fornerot family has been a mainstay in Saint Aubin. In the early aughts, Jérome Fornerot acquired 9 acres of vineyards spread out over Santenay and Maranges. Over time, he also added several parcels in Saint Aubin where he established his home winery now touted as one of the best in the region making an array of lean, racy reds and some of the most laser-focused, delectable whites you will find in Burgundy; Fornerot's Santenay Blanc "Les Charrons" is a perfect example of the latter. "Les Charrons" is a small parcel on the western end of Santenay (the last important village in the Côte-d'Or, according to some), on the lower-mid slope facing south. Soils here are clay-limestone and certainly provides the foundation for the energy and verve found in this Chardonnay. A good amount of white floral tones play nicely with the bright, refreshing citrus (and tropical?) acidity and ever-so-slight touch of light spice. This is a tremendously delicious white Beaune rivaling the quality and character of its neighbor to the north, Puligny.
