Under the same ownership as first growth Château Haut-Brion, this estate is now beginning to reveal some fine wines. This latest vintage has rich tannins, equally opulent fruits and ripe flavors of black plums. The wine's structure promises some fine aging. - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast. Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, faint brightening on rim. Fresh black sweet cherry, a hint of plum, fine nougat, floral nuances. Juicy, elegant, ripe cherry good balance, freshly structured, ripe tannins, good length and ageing potential.-Peter Moser, Falstaff. A soft, round red with blackberry, chocolate and hints of spice and cedar. It's medium-bodied with silky tannins and a juicy finish. - James Suckling. Deep garnet in color, the 2020 Le Dragon de Quintus sashays out with ready-to-dance notes of ripe, juicy plums, boysenberries, and black raspberries, followed by undertones of star anise and Indian spices plus a waft of cedar. Full-bodied, rich, and plush, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit, delivering a long, lifted finish.-Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent. The second wine of Château Quintus, the 2020 Le Dragon De Quintus is one impressive looking barrel sample, offering lots of cassis and black cherry fruits as well as medium to full body, ripe, soft tannins, plenty of tobacco, earth, and green flower notes, and outstanding length on the finish. It doesn't have the richness of the Grand Vin but has lots of class and should drink well for 10-12 years or more. - Jeb Dunnuck. Fresh, soft, supple, sweet, and vibrant, you can sense the minerality on the palate, which adds to the complexity and verve in all the ripe, polished dark, red fruits and spice. Drink from 2023-2031.-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider. The 2020 Dragon de Quintus exhibits rich aromas of plums, cassis, dark berries and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate that's ample and enveloping, finishing with a slightly heady, kirsch-inflected finish that reflects its lofty alcoholic degree.-William Kelley, The Wine Advocate. Mid crimson with a pale rim. Light but warm, fully ripe impression on the nose. And a little marked acidity on the finish. The overall palate impression is not as rich as many f the 2020 St-Émilions I have been tasting, but then this is the first second wine I have tasted from the appellation in this vintage. Just a little stringy on the end.-Jancis Robinson |
